The Mystery Box & How to Get Meltan
The little hex-nut Pokemon born from connectivity itself.
Meltan is unique: it is a Mythical Pokemon that exists specifically to reward connecting Pokemon GO to the console world. You cannot find it in the wild normally - you have to open a Mystery Box.
Getting the Mystery Box
Send any Pokemon from Pokemon GO to either Let's Go (via GO Park) or Pokemon HOME (via the GO Transporter). Doing so rewards a Mystery Box in GO.
Catching Meltan
- Open the Mystery Box - Meltan will start spawning around you for a limited time.
- Collect 400 Meltan Candy to evolve it into the powerful steel titan Melmetal.
- The box goes on cooldown afterward; send another Pokemon over later to open it again.
From GO, Meltan and Melmetal can ride the GO Transporter into HOME and on into the mainline games - a Pokemon that literally would not exist without transferring.
